It’s our Anniversary.

If “consistency” is the name of the game, then “setting goals” must be the game’s middle name.

In the creative journey, things change fast, especially for Black women, femmes, and nonbinary freelancers forcing us to stay ahead of said game. It’s taught us to be ready to reevaluate, reprioritize and reflect on our goals regularly. We hear it’s how you bend without the break.

We find renewed passion to break those goals down in-depth, down to daily actions. We committ to ourselves. We committ to our goals. We lapse. We learn.

We’ve repeated. We’ve been there.

Now we’re leaning into the space of understanding how “working differently” looks for us individually and collectively. We’re holding the pieces we know are needed to reach our goal and watching as the time we invested in understanding how we work has given us the space to grow.

It helps us stay focused and motivated, even when life scuffs our favorite shoes.

From one community member to another. Check-in with yourself regularly. Reevaluate your goal regularly. Adjusting accordingly, because your goals deserve that type of intention.

We’ll be over here in the next stage on our own journey. We’re still rooting for everybody black.

Reevaluation prompts self-reflection, allowing individuals to identify their strengths, areas for improvement, and personal development needs. This introspection helps creatives hone their skills and enhance their creative prowess.

Can we connect?

While performatively inclusive companies may have rolled back their “DEI” measures, didn’t we already know we have to be the ones who create space for each other?

We want to connect intentionally, support those doing the work, and curate our network. While you’re scrolling share an artist, brand, community organizer, podcaster, etc that you love and that we need to be following @spoonsconsultancy on IG.

Even if it’s your own...
